Leanintoit Gets Third Futurity Win in Ontario Jackpot Futurity

FORT ERIE, ONT—OCTOBER 8, 2011—Donald Ito and Richard Wincikaby's Leanintoit scored her third futurity win this season Saturday afternoon in the $166,150 Ontario Jackpot Futurity at Fort Erie Racetrack.

Under jockey Kim Ito Leanintoit raced over the course in :17:640 seconds, defeating Zoom After Six, ridden by John McInerney, by 1 ½ lengths. Ease Bye, under rider Tony Bennett, was a half-side back for the show position.

Leanintoit picked up the winner's purse of $66,460 to push her career earnings mark to $147,504. It was the Tres Seis filly's seventh win in eight starts this season. Marcus Smith bred the Don Reid trainee in Texas from the Heza Fast Man mare First Lady Amber.

Ito, who is making a strong comeback after a knee injury sidelined her for most of the 2011-racing season, rode the horse. “She broke really well. I could see the other horses around me and I was waiting for someone to come get us, but she just out ran them all,” she said. “Before I got hurt I was gate training her and she’s been training like a million dollars.”

The filly paid $9.90 to win.

Janet Grice trains Zoomin After Six for Steve Hunter. The Zoomin For Bux gelding earned $33,230 for his effort. The homebred for Hunter is out Silk At Six, by Sixavike.

ONE KOOL WAVE WASHES OVER THE FIELD IN THE ALL CANADIAN FUTURITY
September 2010

One Kool Wave has set the Ontario racing Quarter Horse world a buzzing so far this year. The two year old grey gelding has gone undefeated this year including an impressive win in the All Canadian Futurity on August 22nd 2010 at Ajax Downs. There was little doubt as jockey Kim Ito brought “The Wave” home for trainer Don Reid and co- owners Robert Bailey and Don Ito.

Next up for “The Wave” was a qualifying race for the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity. Once again he washed away the competition setting a track record for 400 yards in the process. The final is scheduled for September 26, 2010.

One Kool Wave is a product of the breeding program of Brooks’ client Belinda Taggart. He is by the World Champion stallion Wave Carver out of the Taggart’s racing champion mare One Kool Bud. One Kool Bud foreshadowed her son by also going undefeated as a two year old.

Belinda Taggart is a long time Brooks supporter and attributes much of her success as a breeder and at the track to Brooks rations. “People are amazed that a grey horse has such a shine to his coat. I tell them it’s because of the good feed he’s getting.” One Kool Wave is trained by Brooks’ client Don Reid who as of September 8th had the highest winning percentage among Ajax Downs trainers.

One Kool Wave has become a media star as admiring fans line up for a photo after each impressive outing. A fitting tribute to good breeding, good training and quality nutrition only Brooks can supply.

Ontario Quarter Horse Named 2007 Canadian Champion
February 14, 2008

Congratulations to Bill and Belinda Taggart of Uxbridge, Ontario. Their two-year-old Quarter Horse filly First Kool Money was named 2007 Canadian Champion after an incredible 2007 race record of six wins, two seconds and one third in nine starts at Ajax Downs and $97, 400 in earnings.

Among the highlights in 2007 were wins in the All Canadian Futurity and the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity.

First Kool Money was raised from weaning on Brooks Performance Feeds and is trained by Don Reid who also uses a Brooks-formulated feed.
